Bob Mackie is a renowned costume and fashion designer. His career began in 1961, and since then, he has won nine Emmys, three Academy Award nominations, and an induction into the Television Academy Hall of Fame. He has received numerous awards throughout his career. He is best known for the original sketch of the Marilyn Monroe dress worn in 1962 at President John F. Kennedy's birthday celebration. Lucille Ball, Cher, Farrah Fawcett, Tina Turner, and Barbra Streisand are celebrities with whom he also collaborated. Starting in 1974, Bob Mackie sketched many of John's iconic costumes, such as the Dodgers uniform and the 'Donald Duck' outfit that Elton wore on his show in Central Park. Elton asked him to create some outfits similar to Cher's, resulting in many sequins, feathers, boas, capes, and hats that made a lasting visual identity for the rock star.
