90th Academy Awards

The 90th Academy Awards, held on March 4, 2018 and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for the second consecutive year. 'The Shape of Water' had thirteen nominations and won Best Picture, Best Director for Guillermo del Toro, and several other categories. 'Dunkirk' followed with eight nominations and secured wins in categories like Best Film Editing and Sound Mixing. Gary Oldman won Best Actor for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in 'Darkest Hour', while Frances McDormand's performance in 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' earned her the Best Actress award. Supporting roles were acknowledged to Sam Rockwell for the same film as McDormand, and Allison Janney for her role in 'I, Tonya'. Jordan Peele won Best Original Screenplay for 'Get Out', making him the first African American to win in this category.

The stage, designed by Derek McLane, was inspired by the award-winning movie Amadeus. Included in the design were six Amadeus mirror units that moved across the stage throughout the night.
