62nd Academy Awards

The 62nd Academy Awards took place on March 26, 1990, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, California. 'Driving Miss Daisy' directed by Bruce Beresford led the nominations with nine in total. The film went on to secure Best Picture, Best Actress for Jessica Tandy, Best Adapted Screenplay for Alfred Uhry, and Best Makeup. Tom Cruise's performance in the lead role in 'Born on the Fourth of July' earned him a nomination for Best Actor, and the film received widespread acclaim. However, it was 'My Left Foot', directed by Jim Sheridan, that secured the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress awards for Daniel Day-Lewis and Brenda Fricker. The Best Director category featured Oliver Stone who claimed the coveted award for his direction in 'Born on the Fourth of July'.
