42nd Academy Awards

The 42nd Academy Awards ceremony, held on April 7, 1970, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, California was hosted by Goldie Hawn, Alan King, and John Huston. 'Midnight Cowboy', directed by John Schlesinger, secured the Best Picture award. In the category of Best Director, John Schlesinger received recognition for his exceptional work on this very same movie. The film's lead actors, Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight, received nominations for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectively, with Hoffman taking home the coveted statuette for his transformative performance. The award for Best Actress went to Maggie Smith for her outstanding portrayal in 'The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie', while Goldie Hawn won the Best Supporting Actress category for her comedic brilliance in 'Cactus Flower'.
