Super Bowl XXV was played on January 27, 1991, between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Giants at Tampa Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The Bills were the AFC champions and made their fourth consecutive Super Bowl appearance, while the Giants were the NFC champions and made their first Super Bowl appearance since 1986. The Giants led 20-19 in the fourth quarter, but the Bills drove down the field and had a chance to win with a field goal in the final seconds. However, kicker Scott Norwood missed a 47-yard field goal attempt right, and the Giants held on to win their second Super Bowl title. The victory was memorable for fans, who had not seen their team win a championship in over 25 years.
Marketed as the first 'All-Kids' Super Bowl, the halftime presentation involved elaborate character props, hundreds of children, costumed characters, President George H.W. Bush's message, and a New Kids on the Block performance.
