The game featured the Washington Redskins and the Denver Broncos, finishing with a final score of 42-10 for the Redskins. The title of MVP was awarded to Washington quarterback Doug Williams. Herb Alpert delivered the rendition of the National Anthem. The Half-Time Show featured Chubby Checker and The Rockettes. ABC's broadcast of the event drew more than 80 million viewers. The commercials from American Airlines, Budweiser, Nestle, Volkswagen, Visa, UPS, McDonald’s, and many others cost up to U$645,000 for a 30-second spot.
