Super Bowl VI was played on January 16, 1972, at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana, between the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL) and the Miami Dolphins of the American Football League (AFL). The Cowboys defeated the Dolphins by a score of 24–3, winning their Super Bowl title.

The Cowboys were led by quarterback Roger Staubach and running back Duane Thomas, who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown in the game. The Dolphins were led by quarterback Bob Griese and running back Larry Csonka, but they were unable to generate much offense against the Cowboys' defense.

The game was notable for several reasons. First, it was the first Super Bowl to be played between two teams from different conferences, as the NFL and AFL had merged in 1970. Second, it was the first Super Bowl to be televised nationally by CBS
