Elton John on his piano composing 'Tiny Dancer,' with lyrics by Bernie Taupin. It first appeared on John's fourth studio album, 'Madman Across the Water,' in 1971 and was released as a single in the US the following year. Bernie Taupin stated that the lyrics were inspired by the Californian women they met then, and he was trying to capture the era's spirit. Although initially considered a commercial failure, it gained renewed popularity after being featured in the 2000 film 'Almost Famous'. In 2018, John and Miley Cyrus performed a duet of 'Tiny Dancer' at the Grammys. The song is also one of the tracks sung by actor Taron Egerton in the 2019 film Rocketman, in which he plays the singer. In 2022, a dance video for 'Hold Me Closer(Tiny Dancer),' featuring Britney Spears, was shot in Mexico City by the award-winning director Tanu Muino.
