Rocket Record was a record label founded by Elton John, Bernie Taupin, Gus Dudgeon, Steve Brown, and others in 1973. They named the company after the hit song 'Rocket Man.' The label was initially distributed in the UK by Island and in the US by MCA Records, both of which Elton John was signed to after 1976. In 1999, the company became a part of The Island Def Jam Music Group and operated under IDJ's Mercury Records division. However, the logo continued to be used on all new Elton John releases until 2007. In 2010, John formed a company named Rocket Entertainment with projects covering theater, film, sports, and artist recording and management, and the 2019 film Rocketman. It was initially located at 33 Queensway, London W2, England, and later moved to 100 New Bond Street, London W1, England. The company is now a division of Universal Music Group, headquartered in Santa Monica, California.
