In 2022, Mattel teamed up with artist Mark Ryden to produce a line of collectible pieces that draw inspiration from his singular style that blurs traditional boundaries. From November 11th to December 11th, 2022, Kasmin Gallery in Los Angeles showcased the 'Pink Pop' collaboration, which included dolls, paintings, and playsets that captured the worlds of fine art and toys. Ryden's work first garnered attention in the 1990s when he introduced a new painting style called 'Pop Surrealism.' In 1994, 'Saint Barbie' was released, quickly becoming one of Ryden's most recognized paintings.
