On March 6, 2024, Mattel launched Barbie's 65th Blue Sapphire Anniversary Black and Blonde dolls to commemorate Barbie's birthday during Women's Month. The doll pays homage to her debut at the New York Toy Fair on March 9th, 1959. Designed by Carlyle Nuera, the doll is a part of Mattel's Black Label Collection, created explicitly for adult collectors. The doll features a black and white gown inspired by Barbie's original swimsuit, 'sapphire' earrings to mark the 65th milestone, cat-eye sunglasses, blue eyeshadow, and red lips.
