'Seven Year Itch' Barbie

Part of the Hollywood Legends Collection, this Barbie, portraying Marylin Monroe is a replica of the iconic white dress she wore on the 'The Seven Year Itch' in which she is an aspiring actress and a commercial model who tests the fidelity of a middle-aged publishing executive in New York City while his family is away for the summer. The doll was introduced in 1997 and is one of the early instances where Barbie paid homage to a celebrity. The same year, Mattel also released two dolls from the movie 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' as part of the same collection. The 'Hollywood Movie Star' collection depicted Barbie on the 'Hollywood Premiere' Red Carpet in 2000, followed by the 'Happy Birthday Mr. President' and 'How To Marry A Millionaire' in 2002. In 2007, the 'Hollywood Bound' Barbie was created by designer Robert Best exclusively for Fan Club members.
