The term 'Deflategate' pertains to the controversy that arose from allegations that Tom Brady and the Patriots violated NFL regulations by deflating footballs in the 2014 AFC championship game against the Indianapolis Colts. During halftime, the ball used in the game was tested, and 11 out of the 12 balls were found to be below the minimum air pressure. A legal dispute followed, and a 253-page report from the league concluded that the Pats were responsible. It was alleged that Brady was, at the very least, aware of the plot to deflate the footballs. As a result, he was suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season, and the team was fined $1 million and lost two draft picks. Brady denied all accusations repeatedly.
