Barbie plays herself in the animated film 'Toy Story 3' wearing a replica of the 'Great Shape Barbie Collection outfit that helped to popularize the aerobics craze of the 80s. She is first seen with Ken, with whom she reunites on the set after their break-up in 2004, when he introduces her to Andy's toys at Sunnyside Daycare. Toy versions of Barbie from the movie, such as the 'Barbie Loves Buzz' and 'Barbie Loves Woody' dolls, feature outfits inspired by her appearances in the film. Initially, Mattel was hesitant to allow the use of Barbie's image in the movie, concerned that it might not be successful, therefore damaging the doll's reputation. Additionally, they wanted to maintain Barbie's neutrality, which allows buyers to imagine her however they wanted, rather than as portrayed in a specific movie. Due to these concerns at that time, most of Barbie's role in the film was given to a newly created character named Bo Peep.
