Barbie 'Dreamhouse'

The original Barbie Dreamhouse, introduced in 1962, had a simplistic structure made of cardboard, designed as a foldable carrying case, and sold for $4.44. It represented a modest living space with basic amenities. A new version, released in 1964, featured additions like a kitchenette and a sliding patio door. Barbie's sister Skipper joined her in a more sturdy new home made of plastic in 1965, sold exclusively at Sears. The 1974 model included a kitchen and an elevator, and an upgraded architectural A-frame design was introduced in 1979. The house was revamped in 1986, featuring the now-iconic Barbie pink color scheme. Accessibility features were installed in 1997 to accommodate Barbie's friend, Becky, who used a wheelchair. Mattel released several upgrades to the dwelling, including staircases, sound features, a washer and dryer, a full bathroom setup with sink, tub and toilet, showers, walk-in closets, and other amenities during the 2000s and 2020s,

The Dreamhouse Experience offered an interactive space for exploring Barbie's world.
