On April 25, 2023, Mattel introduced the 'Down Syndrome'Â Barbie, an addition to the Fashionistas Collection. She is part of a line of dolls depicting various disabilities like hearing impairment, wheelchair use, limb prostheses, and alopecia, tailored to represent diversity and inclusion. The doll's accessories include a puff-sleeve dress adorned with butterfly motifs and recognizable yellow and blue hues and a pink necklace with three pendants representing the trisomy of the 21st chromosome, hallmarks of the condition. Additionally, she is equipped with ankle braces, commonly used by children with Down Syndrome to assist in mobility.
